Biological and Evolutionary Perspectives in American Anthropologist: An Editorial Provocation

A comment—and call—from Adam P. Van Arsdale and Mary K. Shenk, associate editors of biological anthropology for the journal.

As stewards of biological anthropology within American Anthropologist, we seek to highlight the myriad forms of biological anthropology that are unhesitatingly part of the broad umbrella of the discipline. There is no singular type of paper, topic, or perspective that might mark a paper as a strong candidate for submission—except for perhaps an interest in engaging broadly with scholars from across the discipline. We simply seek outstanding biological anthropological work so that American Anthropologist can once again be recognized as a place of discourse within and across the subdisciplines of the field.
